What is the Dominican Republic E-Ticket?: General Information

The electronic immigration ticket for travel to the Dominican Republic was introduced at the end of 2020, replacing the traditional paper entry forms that were handed out on the plane. Since April 2021, the e-ticket is the only way to submit travel data for immigration purposes, making paper forms obsolete.

It is imperative to highlight that the entry form to the Dominican Republic is mandatory and may result in denial of boarding if the QR code is not presented.

This change has been accompanied by significant improvements in the immigration process at the airport, streamlining waiting times thanks to the validity of the electronic ticket. So far, I have arrived in the country using the Punta Cana e-ticket on several occasions, experiencing minimal wait times, despite the simultaneous arrival of hundreds of passengers.

It is important to note that you must complete an electronic ticket for each arrival and departure from the Dominican Republic. From 2023, there is the option to complete the check-out form immediately after the check-in form, saving time even if two QR codes are required.

After completing the form on the web portal, you will obtain a QR code that you must present when arriving at immigration at the airport. Although it is sometimes not requested during immigration, the airline usually requires it during check-in or boarding. Failure to provide the e-ticket form may result in denial of boarding.

In case you forget, it is possible to complete the form at the airport with WiFi available, although this depends on the airline's policy. It is recommended to do it in advance to save time and avoid inconveniences. The ideal period is 1 to 3 weeks before departure, and the maximum is 3 months.

Compared to the past, when it was only possible to fill out the form up to 3 days in advance, there is now no maximum advance limit. You can complete your e-ticket for your 2024 holiday at any time, although this should be no more than 1 month in advance as travel details may change.

There is no specific app for the e-ticket, but you can fill out the form on your mobile phone via the mobile website, although it tends to work best on a desktop PC or laptop.
